Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Tax Director to join our client's team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing tax operations, providing strategic leadership, and contributing to the firm's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise:
Demonstrate thorough technical knowledge of accounting standards and reporting standards, particularly in researching, completing, and reviewing technical areas such as flow-through entities <150M, cash taxpayer issues, and C-Corp < 50M.
Tax Risk Management:
Identify tax risk management issues and propose potential solutions through research and collaboration, focusing on governance, tax preparer rules, and requirements according to AICPA standards.
Review and Compliance:
Review tax procedures, engagement workpapers, and financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm and professional guidelines.
Leadership and Practice Development:
Demonstrate a well-thought-out and logical approach to practice development, actively selling value-added services using the existing network or building strong relationships in the area.
Oversight and Coordination:
Oversee tax technology, processes, procedures, and scheduling.
Monitor task assignments and ensure timely completion, reviewing workflow.
Client Interaction:
Act as the primary client contact and liaison for complex issues that staff may be unable to resolve.
Communicate effectively with clients, ensuring positive relationships and addressing questions on advanced technical accounting matters.
Team Supervision and Development:
Supervise, train, and mentor tax staff.
Coordinate day-to-day duties of planning, tax work, and wrap-up.
Strategic Contribution:
Take a lead role in client and team meetings, contributing new ideas and strategic initiatives.
Stay current on technical and industry developments, evaluating potential impacts on client engagements.
Qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
Extensive experience in tax accounting, with a focus on compliance services and specialty financial and consulting expertise.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to develop and maintain positive client relationships.
In-depth knowledge of accounting and reporting standards, tax risk management, and tax technology.
