Youth Care Worker
at Heartland Human Care Services in Illinois
IT’S MORE THAN A JOB, IT'S A PURPOSE
Summary:
1. Provides direct care to youth in program while providing supportive supervision, guidance, and role modeling for the participants in the milieu.
2. Monitor and engage youth throughout day during daily activities
3. Able to complete intake and program orientation for participants to the facility in a way that promotes safety and security
4. Develop and lead activities for the children that provide engagement and education about vocational skills, acculturation to the United States, and other important competencies.
5. Contribute to general organization and upkeep of the facility.
6. Ability to work with short deadlines and frequently changing priorities.
7. Responsible for timely and accurate documentation
8. Flexible to work at other program facilities as needed.
9. Must be flexible to drive participant if approved/cleared
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of 6 months experience with youth in case work, human services or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Fluency in a second language may be required. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Other Qualifications:
o At least 21 years of age.
o A valid driver’s license may be required.
o Must be able to pass a background check as required by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
