We are a leading Packaging Machinery & Automation facility located in Smyrna, GA, specializing in the design and creation of high-speed, automated packaging machinery. Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineering Manager will assume both functional and technical management responsibilities for the design and development team focused on high-speed, automated packaging equipment. Located at our Smyrna, GA facility, you will play a pivotal role in leading the team, setting standards, and ensuring the successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design of high-speed, automated packaging machinery, encompassing mechanical layout, component sourcing, and BOM generation.
Collaborate with project managers, manufacturing, supply chain, and electrical engineers to ensure project adherence to specifications.
Set standards for the team, assign projects, and establish priorities.
Build relationships with customer-facing organizations, vendors, and suppliers.
Develop budgets, schedules, and educational training programs.
Conduct root cause analysis, perform diagnostics, and troubleshoot equipment.
Ensure a safe and positive work environment.
Drive development projects by directing cross-functional teams.
Manage subcontractors and their work to meet design requirements within project timelines.
Provide support for machine production and installation.
Collaborate with Technical Sales managers on platform production projects.
Respond to inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and provide studies and estimates.
Offer cost-effective solutions while maintaining design integrity based on customer needs.
Understand and interpret customer's mechanical specifications for packaging operations.
Foster internal relationships with fellow employees and maintain external relationships with customers, suppliers, and WestRock personnel.
Requirements:

BachelorÂ’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
5+ years of engineering experience, preferably working on high-speed, automated machinery.
Proficiency in organizational change management.
Experience with ASME Y14.5 and GD&T.
Background in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
Packaging Machinery Equipment experience is a plus.
Additional licensure or certification may be required.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Practical experience with CAD software, PLM systems, and engineering change management.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
Excellent motivational skills and multitasking abilities.
Ability to travel 10-15%, including international travel to our sister plant in France.

Salary: $125,000 - $135,000 Yearly
