The Sawmill Superintendent will play a pivotal role in providing leadership, training, and development to supervisors and hourly employees within the sawmill and maintenance departments. This role involves managing the process flow, resources, and workforce to meet and exceed established budgets and performance objectives.

Responsibilities:

Provide exemplary leadership for the department by serving as a role model in all aspects and maintaining high standards in safety, working relationships, quality, and training.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the sawmill and maintenance departments.
Utilize an established performance management system to develop direct reports in the best interest of the company, focusing on areas such as costs, overtime, absenteeism, and employee performance.
Collaborate with operations to improve reliability and maximize equipment availability at the lowest cost to the mill through active involvement and a thorough understanding of the business.
Provide supervisors with the necessary tools and manpower to ensure equipment reliability.
Develop, implement, monitor, and report on systems related to personnel development, system design, cost control, and equipment availability.
Manage department costs aggressively to assure optimum manufacturing unit cost, providing ongoing education on key metrics.
Effectively communicate goals to the team.

Qualifications:

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Recent experience working with sawmill equipment is essential.
Minimum of 1 year of proven leadership experience, demonstrating vision, dedication, and the ability to mentor a team in heavy manufacturing.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict management, coaching, supportive feedback, and problem-solving.
Solid mechanical and technical knowledge.
Computer literate, with a strong background in MS Office.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Detail and results-oriented.
Financial planning and budgeting experience.
Mandatory Requirements:

Sawmill experience.
Must complete a background and drug screening.

Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 Yearly
