Full-time Fund Accountant

at Staffworthy Inc in California

We are a growing multi-strategy tech-focused investment firm based out of San Francisco, California. Our team strives to create impact through investments across the technology sector. Our approach here is simple – honesty, candor, respect, transparency, and excellence in all we say and do.

We are comprised of a small team of accomplished investors with a mandate to invest in buyout, growth, and private credit in tech businesses globally. We are seeking an experienced Fund Accountant to join the team and report to our Director of Finance.

Responsibilities:

Manage Accounting Processes:

Oversee the third-party accounting team in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting.
Execute journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset reconciliations, and expense allocations.
External Audits and Fund Account Management:

Lead external audits and manage funds accounts.
Oversee the onboarding process for Portfolio Management Systems (PMS).
Expense Analysis and Reporting:

Analyze expenses, including the allocation of fund-related expenses for external fund administrators.
Manage the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasts.
Financial Statement Preparation:

Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements.
Generate quarterly portfolio company valuations and performance calculations.
Capital Management and Support:

Assist with capital calls and distributions.
Manage cap tables and financing documents from investments.
Operational Efficiency and Process Improvement:

Proactively identify operational efficiencies, processes, and control improvements.
Collaborate with the Director of Finance to achieve team objectives and support ad hoc projects.
General Financial Oversight:

Manage expenses, reimbursements, and fixed asset records/system entries.
Support forecasts, including fund IRR calculations.
Qualifications:

BachelorÂ’s degree in accounting or a related business degree; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
3+ years of professional experience at a fund management company or in corporate accounting.
Experience in managing teams or third-party providers.
Proficiency in cash management, AR, AP, fixed assets, expense reporting, budgets, and forecasting.
Experience with financial statement audits and tax preparation.
Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (face-to-face, telephone, and written communication).
Industry knowledge and understanding of industry-wide financial benchmarking.
Strong attention to detail.
Enthusiastic personality, charisma, and energy; ability to interact with various stakeholders within the firm, investors, CEOs/CFOs of our companies, etc.
