Reports To: Executive Director
Position Summary: The Director of Finance is responsible for all aspects of the financial operations of Lazarus House Inc. (LHM.) Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Finance provides accounting, investing, reporting, budgetary, operational and programmatic support for all LHM activities. The Director of Finance works with the other LHM Directors and the ED to help develop and fulfill LHM’s Mission and Vision. The position may be full or part time, but based on past experience requires ideally 24-30 hours weekly.

Position Description:
• Actively manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations. Hands on participation in these activities may be required.
• Develop budgets for all programs and LHM as a whole.
• Prepare, analyze, and present monthly and quarterly financial reports.
• Report on financial results and issues to the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of all Federal, State and City regulatory filings including Form 990, Massachusetts Form PC, etc.
• Oversee banking activities and actively manage cash flow to ensure LHM needs are met.
• Carry out LHM’s investment policy.
• Manage accounting internal control systems to ensure accurate and timely production of accounting information, tracking of restricted donations, and safeguarding of assets.
• Monitor changes in legal and regulatory environment and implement changes in procedures needed to maintain compliance.
• Oversee contractual and financial obligations related to the Transitional Housing Project including property management, transactional needs, and financial reporting.
• Support LHM Development team in fundraising, including analysis and reporting for events and reporting for foundation and government grants.
• Be a support and presence at LHM events as appropriate.
• Collaborate with the leadership team and program coordinators to ensure accurate budgeting and monitoring of costs.
• Coordinate all audit activities.
• Lead, guide, and manage the performance/activities of the Finance Team.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Strong commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of LHM.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of non-profit accounting and financial management, appropriate knowledge of tax laws and related issues and regulations for 501(c)(3) organizations, including federal and state filings and sound internal controls.
• Excellent people skills with experience collaborating with a multidisciplinary, diverse and dynamic team
• Effective communicator both verbally and in writing.
• 7+ years of experience in financial management and accounting.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Flexible and a self-starter; able to manage multiple priorities while also being highly detail-oriented.
• Fluency in Microsoft office and accounting software.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be willing to travel from building to building within the Ministry and/or to external agencies.
• Experience working with a diverse demographic of individuals.
• CPA designation is a plus
• Past operational experience or operational leadership a plus as involvement and familiarity with various operational functions is valuable.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
• CPA experience preferred.
• Past Non-Profit Social Services experience
