Full-time Help Desk Support Specialist

at Oregon Air Show Charitable Foundation in Illinois

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Help Desk Support Specialist to provide first-level technical assistance to internal users or clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for responding to help desk tickets, diagnosing technical issues, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Respond to user queries via phone, email, chat, or help desk software.

Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and system issues.

Install, configure, and maintain software applications and computer peripherals.

Escalate complex problems to the appropriate internal teams or higher-level support.

Log all service requests, incidents, and solutions in the ticketing system.

Follow up with users to ensure issues are resolved and provide status updates as needed.

Maintain user access and security settings (e.g., password resets, permissions).

Support onboarding/offboarding by setting up or disabling user accounts and devices.

Create and update technical documentation, FAQs, and user guides.

Assist in maintaining inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.

Requirements:

Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Experience: 1–3 years of experience in IT support or a help desk role.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency with Windows and macOS operating systems.

Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and remote desktop tools.

Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, VPN).

Experience with help desk ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk, Jira).

Soft Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent problem-solving and multitasking abilities.

Patience and professionalism under pressure.
