The Opportunity

The HSE Advisor is responsible to facilitate the ongoing HSE tasks for the vessels and support the HSE Manager to ensure 100% operational uptime while working within the established health and safety guidelines and the policies and procedures of the Company

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support to the operation by maintaining a visible presence
• Management of risk through formal risk assessments, safe work instructions, job hazard analysis, and project reporting
• Conduct regular HSE audits, inspections, and observations to support safe work behaviors and provide recommendations to management
• Investigate incidents and near miss incidents. Document and provide recommendations and follow-up on corrective actions
• Develop toolbox talks, safety meetings and other materials as required
• Facilitate the implementation and administration of the safety management system onboard and monitor compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations
• Maintain all HSE related document control and administrative requirements
• Prioritize safety of employees in all aspects of the job
• Lead with strong safety leadership through desirable behaviors, attitudes, and mindset to further develop our culture of safety
• Support the performance and effectiveness of Occupational Health and Hygiene program through industrial hygiene monitoring and exposure control plans
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by coaching and mentoring employees at all levels to ensure HSE compliance in day-to-day tasks and ensure the systematic application of best practices
• HSE Advisor is expected to act as an example through diligent practice of all HSE regulations
• Maintain a positive tone within the team and work cooperatively through personal behavior, work contribution and the sharing of expertise and knowledge
• Act as an ambassador for Bridgeman Services Group in all dealings with the public, management, and team members
• Ensure employees are competent and operating at levels sufficient for successful operations pursuant to Safe Manning for the vessel
• Conduct orientation and training for team members to explain policies, work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of any required equipment
• Provide verbal and written performance reviews to the HSE Manager / Operations Manager in support of the HSE performance management of crew

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in an HSE Advisor role
• 1-2 years of experience with offshore activities is required
• Formal safety training and certification is required
• Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) is required
• Formal incident investigation certification is required
• ISM Code proficiency is required
• Computer literacy with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office is required
• WHMIS certification
• Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test prior to hiring and potential random tests throughout employment with prior notice
• Excellent comprehension and command of the English language (written & verbal)
• Excellent organizational and time management skills

Working Conditions

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50lbs
• Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
