Full-time Beacons School Success Program Director

1.  Job Summary:

The Beacons School Success Program Director is responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating day to day processes and programs. The incumbent supervises staff, volunteers and students in the Beacons School Success Center. The incumbent manages programming for quality and safety for assigned Beacons School Success Center/School.  The Beacons School Success Program Director is responsible for building positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners.

 2.  Essential Functions:

Manage day to day operations for safe, high quality Beacons School Success programs focusing on youth development and academics within the assigned center.
Develop programmatic vision for the center ensuring decisions are made through a youth-focused lens.
Serve as the key contact for school staff, including the principal and teachers, for implementation of daily programs.  Maintains strong working relationships and coordinate collaborative programming using school and Y funds.
Create and foster a safe and respectful culture within a diverse community of youth, families, volunteers, and partner agencies.
Oversee staff supervision including scheduling, recruiting, retention, staff coaching and performance management, and staff development.  
Hire and maintain a staff structure that supports high quality and diverse teams.
Meet and maintain all evaluation data outcome requirements for grants and contracts for assigned center.
Create and manage budget and expenses to meet programming outcomes and goals.
Serves as the key contact for parents and community agencies and facilitates events and programming which engages them as partners.

3.  Relationships:

This position reports to the Beacons School Success Center Director and represents the Y to communities serviced.  Takes work direction from the Center Director or their representative to meet programing or grant requirements. The incumbent supervises center staff and provides indirect supervision to school and partner staff and volunteers.  The incumbent regularly interacts with community agency partners, youth and families from diverse backgrounds. This position has an indirect but critically important partnership relationship with the school administration and teachers associated with their center.

4.  Qualifications:

Required:
Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in managing youth programs  to include at least of 1 years directly supervising staff.
Ability to manage expenses to a budget.
Ability to develop positive relationships and collaborate with a variety of community partners.
Good interpersonal and relationship building skills
Strong problem solving and, analytical ability
Good communication (verbal and written) skills.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently as needed.
Ability to maintain high levels of interaction in a fast paced customer youth-focused culture.
BLS, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration and other applicable safety training within 30 days of hire date.

Preferred:

Experience working in a school environment.
Skilled in group processes, group facilitation, and co-facilitation.
Experience in fundraising and grant writing.
Multilingual

 5.  Work Conditions: 

Ability to move throughout a school building regularly throughout the day.
Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.
May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.
Perform all physical aspects of the position, including moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.

6.  Additional Notes:

This position is located at the assigned school location. This job description represents the major functions of the position but is not intended to be all-inclusive. The incumbent is also responsible for taking direction from the Program Executive in completing projects or performing duties deemed necessary for the center or Association success.
