Job Description:

Engineer to perform mechanical analysis tasks on complex systems including precision mechanisms, electro-mechanical hardware, and complex electronic packaging in a program team environment. Technical leadership over entire analysis process including material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final documentation and presentation. Candidate must have experience in aerospace system analysis with an emphasis on thermal analysis, and ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplined team environment.

Essential Functions:

· Perform thermal design and analysis tasks on complex mechanical hardware including precision mechanisms, electro-mechanical devices, aerospace mechanism design, complex electronics packaging, supporting space-based deployable mechanisms, innovative thermal and ground based systems.

· Support programs through requirements derivation and verification, system architecture development, loads derivation, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design analysis, generation of analysis documentation (including presentation materials, and deliverable data packages), and leading system test activities.

· Work multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing situations.

· Have the ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplined team environment.

· In charge of various environmental testing activities ranging from development to final product qualification testing. Responsible for understanding customer needs, generating test procedures and ultimately executing the test.

· Establish key performance requirements and define requirements for test support equipment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary):

1. Do you have a proficiency in the analysis FEA tool, Thermal Desktop.

2. Do you have 4+ years of experience with a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering or science degree or 6+ years with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering or science degree required

3. Do you have experience with spacecraft and payload-level thermal control design and analysis

4. Do you have experience with defining thermal environments based on orbital parameters and mission concept of operations

5. Do you have experience with mission-level requirements derivation and flowdown to payload and subsystem levels

6. Do you have experience with thermal testing (i.e. TVAC) including: design/analysis, test procedure generation, thermal balance and model correlation, test equipment selection and use, cognizant authority of test Go/No-Go decisions

7. Do you have experience with Microsoft office tools, Word, Excel, PowerPoint required

8. Do you have Active TS/SCI Security Clearance. – Preferred

9. Do you have Master’s Degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with Thermal-related concentration – Preferred

10. Do you have strong analytical skills with emphasis on using and/or directing finite element analysis (FEA) desired

11. Do you have background in Space-based System Design Preferred

12. Do you have proficiency in analysis FEA tools such as Flotherm, ANSYS, etc. Preferred

13. Do you have experience with on-orbit correlation Preferred

14. Do you have experience with thermal control systems such heat pipes, MLI, radiators, thermal interface materials, phase change material Preferred

15. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
