We are looking for a statistician to join our Analytics team to help design statistical models for risk management. These shall be used for regulatory reporting (eg: IFRS9, BASEL, APRA guidelines), loss reserving and deriving insights for portfolio management. A keen eye for detail, strong statistical foundation and prior experience in banking, particularly risk modelling will help you deliver in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Ability to handle large volume of data to derive insights for business problems using SAS, SQL, other statistical programming software
• Develop statistical methodology, study design, and data analysis including traditional modelling & machine learning techniques to model various use cases in risk management
• Apply regulatory standards (APRA guidelines / IFRS9 / BASEL etc.) to the portfolio and suggest appropriate interpretations of the standards by accounting for portfolio peculiarities
• Partner with key stakeholders including senior leadership throughout Banking & Financial Services to communicate our approach towards interpreting regulatory guidance, keeping an open channel of communication and managing their expectations
• Assist in project planning and management with clients and other staff members
Desired Candidate Profile
• Graduate / Postgraduate degree in Economics / Statistics / Maths or related numerate fields of study
• 5+ years of developing statistical models (traditional / machine learning) to solve business problems, preferably in banking and risk management
• Knowledge of regulatory guidelines (IFRS9, BASEL, APRA guidelines) will be a plus
• Ability to prioritize, plan and organize work and adhere to strict timelines
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical topics with diverse user groups and lead stakeholder management conversations
