Special Educator (Program Leader)

ELG is looking for an experienced special educator, particularly one who specializes in reading disabilities.
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
ELG’s full-time program is a multidisciplinary, therapeutic-focused daily program for children and adults with special needs. We provide services from birth through adulthood for clients whose needs cannot be met by local or international schools or other providers. We serve a variety of clients who may be on the autism spectrum, have global developmental delays, behavior problems, learning disabilities, genetic conditions, or need to intensely develop skills before moving to a mainstream school environment. Clients receive individualized educational and therapeutic interventions on a daily basis, which are embedded within the full-time program’s motivating theme-based programming.
JOB SUMMARY
The program leader is responsible for delivering a high-quality, comprehensive special education program for a specific group of learners. The program leader oversees all aspects of the program including content and intervention planning, individual and group instruction, managing the program and support staff, maintaining strong relationships with the broader multi-disciplinary team and families, and creating an environment conducive to learning.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Plan and execute a comprehensive daily program
2. Evaluate, monitor, and report on-going progress of each participant
3. Manage the program staff
4. Establish and maintain relationships and frequently communicate with families
5. Advocate for and represent the program within ELG
6. Practice self-reflection and continuous professional development
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The special education teacher must have the relevant degree(s) and certificates to hold the current position and be licensed to perform their job in at least one country:
Master’s degree in special education/educational psychology/social work, etc.
Bachelor’s degree, combined with 5-10 years of professional working experience can be accepted to the role after spending a period of 2 years working at ELG.
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English is required.
SALARY
15,000-20,000RMB depending on experience.
