Federated Hermes is seeking a Manager, Accounting Research at our Pittsburgh headquarters to provide complex technical accounting research and analysis of major transactions and contracts to determine proper U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting. The successful individual will interact with personnel across the organization to maintain a thorough understanding of critical transactions and communicate relevant accounting matters.

What you can expect:
• Review major, complex transactions, including acquisitions, mergers, dispositions, new products, financing arrangements, among others, and determine appropriate U.S. GAAP treatment through the use of research tools and application of guidance, provide written documentation of relevant conclusions and present findings.
• Participate in monitoring the standard-setting authorities for changes in U.S. GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards and communicate relevant changes.
• Participate in the determination of proper presentation and disclosures in various SEC filings.
• Review and analyze complex contracts for proper accounting treatment.
• Collaborate with accounting policy team in determining accounting requirements as they relate to specific questions or transactions and provide written documentation of relevant conclusions.
• Review and comment on exposure drafts of new accounting pronouncements or requests for comment on behalf of Federated Hermes.
• Liaise with external auditors to present documentation related to complex accounting issues.

What we are looking for:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Active CPA license
• Minimum of 10 years combined public accounting, technical accounting and external reporting experience at a publicly held company; Experience with the financial services industry preferred
• In-depth technical knowledge of US GAAP, SEC rules and the ability to conduct complex research independently
• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards preferred
