Job Summary
We are looking for individual to join our client’s team as Microbiologist I. Apply expertise in quality assurance and microbiology to the facility manufacturing processes and microbiology lab to result in conformance to FDA-Cosmetic guidelines and current Good Manufacturing Practices. Provides assistance in the development and implementation of quality systems, processes and procedures consistent to meet FDA regulatory and corporate guidelines. And will be part of a high performance team and is accountable to perform the required tasks assigned to this position.

Job Description
• Reading out finished product, water, and raw materials, additional micro testing if needed, and release of finished product in SAP.
• Tasks outside the lab include updating the quality board on each converting line. Incumbent must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Principal Accountabilities:
o Fully committed to the health and safety of all employees under his direction which promotes and supports occupational safety and industrial hygiene and to manage in a manner that seeks to eliminate injuries and illnesses.
o Provide leadership to institutionalize World Class Manufacturing to accomplish mill and Supply Chain objectives in conjunction with the Baby Care business plan to achieve manufacturing excellence.
o Control the operation of the Maumelle facility to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicator results in the nine accountability areas of: Safety, Housekeeping, Human Resources, Quality, Cost, Raw Materials, Customer Service, and Corporate Ethics.
o Carry out job responsibilities in a safe manner. Practice procedures that meet safety codes, policies, and guidelines. Provide for the safety and well-being of all facility colleagues. Place an emphasis on consumer safety by ensuring that all products meet product safety requirements.
o Provide expertise in conducting microbiological testing and release of finished products, raw materials, manufacturing processes and personnel.
o Provide technical expertise in practicing methods and means for maintaining sanitary manufacturing equipment and assist in development of effective and innovative microbiological testing. Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized for microbiological expertise. Coach team members and customers regarding statistics, process control and preventative quality management for continuous improvement in both existing and emerging manufacturing sites.
o Maintain security and documentation to ensure the retrieval of data and protection of proprietary information. Document results and report as required by KC policy to ensure effective communication and provide the necessary FDA and legal requirements.
o Communicate fully with superior, subordinates and others who have the need to know. Communications should be prompt, complete, candid, and clear.
o Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results.
o Assist and recommend the development, implementation and validation of product quality testing procedures.
o Assist in the development an informational database for identifying microorganisms with significance to product quality.
o Continuously focus on product quality improvement.
o Support the business in moving from an Appraisal to Prevention mode of product quality assurance.

Skills Required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) or similar Micro-Lab software system will be considered a plus.
• Excellent Microsoft-based computer skills in Microsoft Office to complete and update detailed reports, create pivot tables, etc.
• Understanding of Good Lab Practices, environmental monitoring, and trending of data.

Education/Training/Certifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline, with at least 2 years of industrial microbiology lab or sanitarian experience –including food/dairy, cosmetic/OTC drug, pharmaceutical, medical device.

Additional Requirements
• Required Time: five days every week, required every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
• On weekdays the core hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Flextime in the core hours of Saturday and Sunday, as needed releasing the finished product on-time. Required work during Holidays, if needed (minimal hours).
• Must be able to flex to support a 7-day operation, as circumstance dictate.
