Individual & Family Specialist
at Special Kids Special Families in Colorado
SCOPE
The Special Kids Special Families Individual and Family Specialist provides supervised visitations, life skills, advocacy, coaching, community support, mentoring and behavioral strategies serving families, individuals, and youth. The Behavioral Health Director supervises this position. 75% of the monthly workload is direct client services and 25% is meetings, documentation, and trainings. This is part-time position working 20-25 hours / week at $20/hr. Benefits include: paid-time off, 401k.
DUTIES
• Maintains confidentiality of client records
• Completes intake assessments of all families
• Communicates with the involved parties in visitation, caseworker, and the agency’s behavioral health team
• Engage with clients using active listening, clarifying roles and responsibilities
• Provides supervision and addresses safety issues when needed during visitation sessions
• Completes intake, program activity and intervention documentation in accordance with agency and contractual standards
• Provides modeling to parents and family members per the plan during visitations, life skills clients and when providing advocacy services
• Projects a positive image to other agencies and public
• Identify and develop community resources for the position and for the agency
• Attends in-service education and training opportunities, meetings, supervisory sessions, and special events
• Consults with supervisor as appropriate, in the performance of the position’s activities and/or casework; refers clients to appropriate service agencies as required
• Promotes cooperative working relationships and positive team atmosphere
• Other tasks as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, or related behavioral health field
• One- or two-years’ experience working a Flexible schedule and willingness to work outside of typical work week schedules.
• Must be organized
• Strong communication skills required
• Prefer experience in handling behavioral health crises
• Comfortable working with clients who have developmental and intellectual disabilities
• Ability to work under high stress situations
• Proficient computer skills
• Proficient is using all office equipment
• Exhibits significant reliable habits, including timelines and organizational skills
• Valid Driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and good driving record
