HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic

Salary: From £35,000 DOE + Overtime + Shift Allowance

Location: Kirkcaldy
We are currently seeking a fully qualified HGV Technician with a minimum of 1 year’s experience to join a busy and well-established workshop in Kirkcaldy. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys problem-solving, and is looking for long-term stability with strong earning potential.

About the Role
You will be part of a skilled workshop team, reporting directly to the Workshop Foreman. This is a hands-on position focused on servicing, maintenance, and fault-finding across a range of commercial vehicles.
The role operates on a rotating shift pattern, alternating weekly between day and back shifts. There are additional earning opportunities through shift allowance, overtime, and participation in the on-call rota.
Car and van mechanics with the right attitude are also encouraged to apply, as training can be provided to help develop transferable skills.

Working Hours
Day Shift: Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm
Friday: 7:00am – 2:30pm

Back Shift: Monday to Thursday: 2:30pm – 11:00pm
Friday: 2:30pm – 10:00pm
Overtime available
Additional compensation for back-shift weeks and call-out

Key Duties
Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
Preparing and presenting vehicles for MOT
Ensuring all work is completed to a high and compliant standard
Working collaboratively within the workshop team
Participating in the on-call rota (once established in the role)

Key Requirements
Minimum 1 year’s experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar mechanical role
Fully qualified HGV Technician
Own tools essential (additional workshop tools available)
