Position Type: Contract

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accessibility Remediation Specialist to review and update

Microsoft Word and PDF documents to meet ADA, WCAG 2.1 AA, and Section 508 accessibility

standards. This role ensures our public-facing documents are fully accessible, properly tagged, and

compliant with current accessibility guidelines.

h2. Key Responsibilities

Remediate Word and PDF documents for accessibility compliance

Apply correct heading structure, ALT text, reading order, tagging, bookmarks, and metadata

Convert documents cleanly between Word and PDF while maintaining accessibility

Identify accessibility issues and correct formatting problems

Communicate with content owners to clarify intent or resolve issues

Ensure all deliverables meet Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards

Use Accessibility Checkers to validate documents

h2. Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word accessibility features (styles, headings, tables, lists, alt text)

Advanced experience in Adobe Acrobat Pro (tagging, reading order, accessibility tools,

remediation)

Understanding of Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA , and ADA requirements

Ability to remediate complex documents, including forms, tables, and multi-section reports

High attention to detail and strong quality assurance skills

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Experience with large organizations or government/public sector is a plus

Experience with AEM Forms , fillable PDFs , or form accessibility

Knowledge of screen readers (JAWS, NVDA)

Experience writing accessibility reports or documenting remediation steps
