Position Summary
The Program Coordinator is a professional position within the Sustainability unit. This position will be responsible for supporting, establishing, expanding, and/or maintaining a variety of new and existing projects and programs for the Office of Sustainability. The Program Coordinator is responsible for programs overseeing education, outreach, data tracking, and analysis that further UO’s operational and administrative sustainability goals. This position will also support the office’s writing and communications efforts, including developing appropriate strategies and communication plans; drafting informational and promotional marketing and communications materials for projects, programs, and other initiatives; drafting reports for office projects and programs; copy editing for co-workers; and maintaining project/program-related content on the Sustainability website. The Program Coordinator will also perform the necessary research, outreach, recruitment, process management, documentation, and evaluation to ensure projects meet their objectives within established budgetary and time constraints.

This Sustainability Program Coordinator is responsible for expanding and sustaining a culture on campus to increase the UO’s sustainability performance and foster sustainable practices and attitudes on campus and beyond.. These responsibilities include coordination of multiple projects and programs, including Green Office; Home Energy Score; a to-be-established Green Labs program; STARS data collection, reporting, and continuous improvement program; quarterly open houses and other engagement events; and other new and existing duties as assigned and/or developed in collaboration with the supervisor. The coordinator will also contribute to outreach, communications, technical reporting, and marketing efforts. These initiatives will support the Office of Sustainability’s broad-based goal of increasing operational sustainability on the UO campus through education, programs, and partnerships.

This Program Coordinator will foster positive relationships with stakeholders and colleagues. Interactions occur daily with the campus community including working closely and collaboratively with subject matter experts, students, and data and business analysts. The Program Coordinator will be required to regularly exercise sound independent judgment in safeguarding the students and customers that work for and utilize the programs. This position needs to develop and maintain project and program management methodologies, processes, and tools in order to monitor objectives, scope, and progress against goals, deadlines, and tracking expenditures.

The Program Coordinator reports to the Sustainability Assistant Director and also works closely and collaboratively with staff in units within the VPFA, Housing, and Student Life. Work is reviewed regularly by the supervisor to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. The Program Coordinator will consult with the Assistant Director of Sustainability as needed to manage priorities, programs, deadlines, and budget. This position will recruit, hire, train, and supervise student staff. Some projects and programs shift in concert with the university’s academic calendars.

This position requires occasional off-hours and weekend work for specific events or activities. On-call required most weekends, January-June, for management of the Score program. This position is eligible for on-premise or hybrid.

Minimum Requirements
Four years of technical- or professional-level experience analyzing or advising and/or instructing the public concerning specific programs or processes, monitoring a program, or performing participant reviews. Two years of the experience must have been comparable to a Program Representative 1 which involves monitoring, representing, and reviewing programs.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or higher level degree in a field related to Sustainability, such as Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Planning, Public Policy, or Geography. Other fields may apply depending on coursework.
• Two (2) years of professional work experience specifically with program or project management.
• Prior STARS program experience.
• Experience teaching and/or supervising undergraduate students.

• Previous university work experience.
• Experience creating communications, marketing, and/or publicity materials.
• Experience managing website content.
