Elementary Music Teacher – French Immersion School

Job Summary
Notre École, a French Immersion STEAM, charter school, seeks a qualified and passionate part time (.50 FTE) music teacher, to teach elementary students in grades K -4, for the 2023-2024 school year. The ideal teacher will work in collaboration with faculty to implement a creative general music curriculum and provide musical direction for productions. Notre École is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of the students’ identities, motivate students to develop skills needed for a good foundation for education in accordance with each student’s ability, and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
• Establish clear goals and objectives;
• Develop and implement a creative general music curriculum for elementary students;
• Establish learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs, curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development;
• Evaluate student progress using appropriate assessment techniques;
• Maintain order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning and take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;
• Counsel pupils when academic and adjustment problems arise;
• Confer with parents and students regarding progress/problems of assigned students;
• Arrange and participate in teacher-parent or teacher-student conferences as necessary;
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, Board Policy and
Administrative Regulation;
• Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, textbooks, materials and facilities;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
• Current Minnesota Elementary licensure required or ability to obtain licensure;
• Speaks French (preferred but not required);
• Ability to work with diverse populations;
• Knowledge of school organization, goals and objectives, curriculum, teaching techniques, current trends, research, and materials of instruction in field of specialization;
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process;
• Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education;
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, administrators, colleagues, community, and other school system staff;
• Excellent oral and communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.

Job Type: part time (.50 FTE)

Experience:
• Teaching: minimum 1 year (Preferred)

Education:
• Bachelor's or equivalent (Required)
• License: Music Education (Preferred) or willingness to obtain a MN Tier license

Language:
• French (Preferred but not required)

Work authorization:
• United States (Required)
