Role description and opportunities

The Events & Experiences Center of Excellence (COE) drives the global strategic vision for BNY Mellon events through collaboration, consistent best practices, and effective governance structures with a focus on delivering high-quality events that enable client engagement and drive our growth strategy. Our team is filled with highly motivated self-starters who consistently push the boundaries of innovation.



We are seeking a strong leader to manage our newly formed Event Operations & Analytics team and support our growing demand for more focused, data-driven performance and scalable operations. This specialized role reports directly to the Head of Events & Experiences and supports our events function in several core areas, including leadership and management of the event operations team, oversight and analysis of event metrics and ROI measurement, tradeshow and exhibit property management, vendor onboarding, and event budgeting and reporting. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires both strategic and tactical execution, strong program management, and the ability to lead a team.



Key responsibilities include the following:

Support the Events & Experiences COE in all aspects of event operations and analytics; exercise and implement best-in-class event operating practices and make recommendations to improve efficiencies.
Provide leadership to the Event Operations and Analytics team, as well as mentorship, coaching, performance evaluations, and guidance on career planning. Create and lead an agile function.
Partner with Digital Marketing & Demand Gen team to establish reporting templates and regularly report event KPIs and performance metrics.
Generate monthly and quarterly reviews and event budget reports; prepare presentations to be shared directly with CMO and Executive Committee.
Develop and manage a scalable “Event In a Box” solution to provide self-service model for lower tier events.
Oversee the administration and usage of our Cvent and Welcome platforms, ensuring the COE is leveraging the full capabilities of both tools.
Manage all aspects of our tradeshow/exhibit properties inventory and serve as engagement manager for our exhibit vendors globally; manage and maintain the firm’s Exhibit Properties Guide and ensure brand alignment.
Manage and oversee the administrative processes associated with the team’s event cards, sports tickets and branded merchandise/gifting.
Manage vendor relationships, new vendor onboarding, and ensure adherence to third-party governance policy.
Champion all standards, policies and procedures; monitor and keep the team abreast of firm policy and procedure updates and notable compliance changes to mitigate risk for our events.
Manage and maintain the COE’s intranet site/digital playbook.
Build and maintain relationships with cross-functional internal teams, creative services, digital marketing, etc.
A successful candidate should ideally have these qualifications:

High-energy self-starter with proven track record and experience managing event/marketing operations and data reporting.
Experience successfully leading and managing a team.
Command of project management principles and ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines with strong judgment and minimal supervision.
Experience managing KPIs, performance measurement, budgeting and reporting.
Event tradeshow experience, with an understanding of exhibit property management.
Experience with event tech tools, including Webex, Microsoft teams, BrightTalk, and Cvent. Natural comfort level and eagerness to learn new applications and systems.
Demonstrated level of confidence and professionalism interfacing with both internal and external business partners and senior executives at all levels, including C-suite.
Proactive and collaborative multitasker with strong and effective communications skills.
A passionate and high-energy style and positive mind-set.
Bachelor's degree in hospitality, marketing or communications or the equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, expert knowledge of Excel pivot tables is a must.
8+ years of related experience in events, preferably in financial services.
