Specialist, Control Governance Lead - Fixed Income, Equities, and Derivatives Securities Middle Offi

The Fixed Income, Equities, and Derivatives (FIEQD) Middle Office Team, a component of our Markets Operations Group at BNY Mellon, serves as a central liaison to the front office and is responsible for the support of day-to-day trading activities including matching, settlement, clearing, reconciliations & investigation processes across various asset classes.

This essential role serves as the control governance lead of our FIEQD Team with focus on several key initiatives. The successful candidate will work alongside leadership to build out, execute, and drive the risk management control framework across key related programs of work which include, but not limited to:

RCSA (Risk and Controls Self-Assessment)
Incident/operational risk event (and near miss) root cause analysis, oversight & remediation
Key Risk Indicator/Key Performance Indicator development
Centralized liaison for Audits, Inquiries, and associated executive reporting
Review adherence and interpretation of Firm policies
Assessment control inventories/reviews
Workflow and procedure appraisals
Resiliency, third party governance, and related initiatives
Executive Management reporting & MIS development
Establish, maintain, and report on the risk profile of the organization
Ensures appropriate issue management, governance, and other business management/project documentation preparation as needed.
Identifies gaps or quality issues within the FIEQD processes, makes recommendations for improvement, supports, and drives execution.
Partners and collaborates with other federated control functions and second line of defense teams.
Regular review and appraisal of workflows and procedures to ensure optimization of control environment with a lens on regulatory, compliance, and risk landscape.
Identifies, analyzes, monitors, and minimizes most complex areas of control testing, control and risk education, and operational and risk support activities to the business and manages projects to adjust or create controls required to meet regulatory and corporate expectations.
Leads projects/analyses and may assign work to other team members.
Ensures that existing control and business recovery practices and procedures are documented.
Works with the business to understand the controls currently in place to minimize risk.
May help design and deliver risk management training programs to ensure that proper control procedures are understood and followed.
Reviews documentation for evidence of successful and efficient performance of control and business recovery procedures.
Identifies deficiencies in data systems and creates processes to improve defenses.
Assists in analyzing technology and market trends to determine potential resulting risks to the organization and how to address risks across businesses.
Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.
Supports multiple, complex projects and owns project timelines.
Provides input into the development of controls and protocols for the function.
No direct reports. Acts as Leader providing guidance to less experienced colleagues.
May delegate work and monitors the work quality of others.
Leads process improvements based on post-mortem transition analysis.
Contributes to the achievement of team objectives and key results.
Education & Experience:

Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
5-7 years of total work experience preferred.
Experience in the securities or financial services industry is preferred..
