Position: Accountant
Location: Lower Manhattan, NY 10007
Duration: 6+ months with possible extension
Start Date: ASAP
Hours Weekly: 35hrs/week (Mon - Fri) (9 am - 4 pm)
Hours per Day: 7 hrs/day
Client: Direct State Client

Department: Financial Accounting & Reporting Services

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, with wide latitude for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment, the Accountant Level II utilizes various financial and communicative skills in playing a supportive team role in preparing, monitoring, and analyzing the Authority’s interim financials and the Annual Financial Report.

The major portion of the job involves monitoring various balance sheet and income statement accounts, preparing journal entries, and performing variance analysis.
Skills Desired:

A solid understanding of accounting, financial reporting and analysis, and internal control procedures.
Analytical and organizational skills, creativity, independent initiative and judgment, the ability to be a team player and interface well with others.
Interpersonal communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Technical skills include excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word and a solid understanding of the Oracle General Ledger financial system.
Duties:

Assist in the monthly and year-end closing
Update the leave time and GASB 49 liabilities
Perform financial data and report analysis
Assist in the accounting for RAD/PACT transactions
