Background: The United States Twirling Association (“USTA”) is a non-profit national organization dedicated to the growth and promotion of the sport of baton twirling. USTA provides support and leadership to state councils, which run local, state, and regional baton twirling competitions, clinics, and other events throughout the year. In addition, USTA organizes national and international competitions and events for participants and fans of the sport. Organizationally, USTA is comprised of a Board of Directors (the “Board”), multiple departments, committees, and groups, (Coaches, Judges, Events, Marketing & Promotion, Ways & Means, Technical Advisory Group, etc.) and a select number of full-time employees.

Position Summary: The Executive Director of USTA (“Executive Director”) is responsible for supervising, overseeing, and managing the activities of USTA, as well as spearheading and providing strategic guidance that promotes the growth of USTA and the sport of baton twirling. USTA has no physical headquarters office, and as such, the Executive Director would predominantly work remotely or through a telework/virtual work station arrangement to coordinate the day-to-day operations of USTA with Department staff and USTA personnel and employees. As such, interested candidates should be self-starters who have strong leadership skills, a background or interest in business operations, a background or interest in growth and marketing strategy, and a demonstrated ability to work off of one’s own initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide operational, strategic, and administrative leadership for USTA, and ensure that all departments and operations of USTA work in a coordinated, cohesive fashion towards the promotion of USTA and the sport of baton twirling
- Supply high-level supervision and management of USTA departments, committees, and groups (Coaches, Judges, Events, Marketing & Promotion, Ways & Means, Technical Advisory Group, etc.) and employees
- Oversee matters relating to USTA’s
o Finances, such as preparation and management of USTA’s annual budget and insurance-related matters;
o General administration, such as adherence to USTA rules and policies and coordination of USTA-run events, including the USTA National Championships;
o Legal interests, such as maintenance of USTA trademarks and copyrights and personnel-related issues, including hiring decision and employee discipline; and
o Recordkeeping, such as tax reporting.
- Develop, direct, and implement growth and marketing initiatives to promote USTA and the sport of baton twirling, such as
o The launch of new events, programs, and initiatives
o The creation of promotional materials
o The development of new partnerships, alliances, and sponsors
- Represent USTA and USTA interests in activities and communications with other groups and organizations, including but not limited to the World Baton Twirling Federation and the International Baton Twirling Federation

- Experience in or familiarity with relevant or related competitive sporting organizations or artistic fields
- Prior management, supervisory, or leadership experience
- Three years experience in business, financial, or marketing/promotional management preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in pertinent field of study preferred
- Self-motivated individual with strong leadership and interpersonal/collaborative skills
- Flexible work schedule and ability to work outside of standard business hours

- $60,000 salary and benefits negotiable
- Opportunities for additional performance-based compensation
- Ten days paid time off, plus holidays

Duration: two (2) years, with the potential for extension at the conclusion of that term
